SEASIDE – The SF State women's basketball team came out of the intermission with a good look from three point range to cut the lead to one, but Cal State Monterey Bay had too much firepower for the Gators after the break and defeated the Gators 67-45 Friday night at the Kelp Bed.
Â
The Gators (0-19/0-15 CCAA) shot just 26.4 percent from the field on the night, going 14-for-53 from the floor. They opened the game shooting just 6-for-28 in the opening period. From three point range the Gators were just 6-for-24 on the evening.Â

Joining Flanagan in double figures was
Jayzyl Tauala. Tauala was absolutely money from the charity stripe where she was a perfect 6-for-6. She finished the night with 12 points going 3-for-11 from the field. As a whole, SF State was 11-for-12 from the free throw line.
Â
In the opening half the Gators offense was slow to get started, but that didn't matter early as the Otters (5-15/3-12 CCAA) were also cold to start. With 5:17 in the first half the score was 14-13, at that point in the first matchup between the two teams they combined to score 59 points at that point.
Â
With 6:22 in the opening half
Savannah Camp grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back up for a 13-12 lead. Over the final six minutes the Otters finished the half on a 14-4 run and went into the locker room up 26-17. The Otters owned the pain in the opening half, scoring 20 of their 26 points inside the key.Â
Â
After the intermission the Gators scored first, but the Otters responded and kept on scoring, eventually taking a 24 point lead with 5:02 left in the game. Cal State Monterey Bay had two players in double figures led by Victoria Dorn who scored 12 points off the bench for the Otters.
