No. 12 Cal Baptist Defeats @SFSUwrestling in RMAC Match

Christian Ramos Won by a 8-4 Decision this Evening to Improve to 3-4

RIVERSIDE–  The No. 12 ranked Cal Baptist Lancers defeated the visiting SF State Gators 35-3 this evening at the Van Dyne Gym in a RMAC dual.   Christian Ramos picked up the Gators' three points with an 8-4 win at 125. 

The Lancers (6-3, 3-1 RMAC) took a  9-0 lead after the first matches with a 7-5 overtime decision by Nolan Kistler over the Gators' Tyson Kuahine (11-10) at 165.  Christian Smith then won by fall over the Gators' Mike Marshall (13-14) at 174 to take a 9-0 lead.

The hosts increased their lead to 20-0 after the three matches at 184, 197 and 285.  Jake Waste won by a 9-1 major decision over the Gators' Johnny Costa (5-11) at 184, Paul Head won by a 13-0 major decision at 197 over SF State's Calvin Nicholls (5-14).  Then at 285, Sam Alnassiri (14-8) lost by a narrow 4-2 decision to the Lancers' Joe Fagiano.

SF State cut the deficit to 20-3 when Ramos improved to 3-4 with an 8-4 decision over Etehen Asuncion at 125.   The Lancers increased their lead to 23-3 as Anthony Racobaldo won by a slim 8-5 decision over the Gators' Fern Giron (9-6). 

Then in the final two matches of the evening, Peter Cunningham won by fall over the Gators' Thomas Turcol (3-5) at 141 and Bradford Gerl won by a narrow 7-5 decision over SF State's Dylan Furtado (7-13) at 149. 

The Gators (4-6, 1-1 RMAC) will return to the mat on January 31, when they participate in the first ever RMAC Championships at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
