SAN FRANCISCO-- Stanislaus State's Gabriela Vargas connected on her second goal of the season on a breakaway goal with just two minutes left in the match as the Warriors clinched a spot in the CCAA Soccer Championships with a 1-0 win over the San Francisco State Gators. The Gators finished the 2016 season with an 8-7-3 overall record and a 4-6-2 CCAA record.
The Warriors (12-6, 9-6 CCAA) outshot their hosts 19-11 including 7-1 in shots on goal. Morgan Cruce and Haley Crook shared time in goal for the guests while
Christina Holguin recorded six saves in goal for the Gators. The win spoiled San Francisco State's Senior Day as the Gator recognized their 14 seniors with a ceremony prior to the match.
MATCH NOTES
8-7-3: The Gators finished with an 8-7-3 overall record, which is the second consecutive year that they finished with an 8-7-3 record. This was also their first back to back winning season since 2002-03 when they went 12-8 and 12-5-4.

JUST MISSED OUT: For the second year in a row, the Gators just missed out of the CCAA Soccer Championships. If they would've defeated the Warriors this afternoon they would have advanced to the six-team post-season tournament which starts on November 1.
SIX SAVES: Christina Holguin had six saves this afternoon which gave her 56 for the season. She also posted a 0.72 goals against average in the 16 matches she was in goal this season.
JUST ONE: The Gators recorded just one shot on goal this afternoon and came off the foot of
Kelsie Bozart in the first half.
