No. 8 UC San Diego Defeats @SFState_WSOC, 2-0

SAN FRANCISCO– The visiting No. 8 UC San Diego Tritons scored once each half to defeat the San Francisco State Gators 2-0 this afternoon in a CCAA match at San Francisco State's Cox Stadium.  The Gators will return home this Sunday, October 9 at 11:30am, when they host Cal State San Marcos.  The Cougars defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 2-1 in Seaside earlier this afternoon.

The Tritons (9-2, 5-0 CCAA) took a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute on a goal by Mary Reilly off a cross from Jamie Benedetto.  The visitors doubled their lead with 20 minutes left in the match when the Gators (5-4-2, 2-3-2 CCAA) scored an own goal.

FIRST TIME:  This afternoon was the Gators' first time being shutout at home.  Their last three straight losses they have not scored a goal.

HOLGUIN:  Christina Holguin recorded five saves in goal for the Gators.  She now has 36 saves on the year with a 0.56 goals against average.

LOHMAN:  Kimber Lohman recorded three of the Gators' 8 shot attempts while Kayleen Belda had two.

QUOTES:  "Unfortunately, we came out a little flat and didn't bring our best game. San Diego is a strong team and I wish we had competed more," said SF State head coach Tracy Hamm.  "We are in a good place as a team. We are under a bit more pressure moving forward with the last 5 games of conference, but we are prepared to take it one game at a time and put our best effort forward."
