AZUSA, Calif. — The San Francisco State baseball team surrendered two early leads in a pair of 7-3 and 3-2 (10 inn.) losses on Saturday at Azusa Pacific.
In game one, SF State (2-6) built a 3-0 lead.
Myles Franklin, who reached and advanced to second on a fielder's choice, stole third and scored on a wild pitch.
Bryce Brooks drove home
Jordan Abernathy to make it a quick 2-0 lead, and did it again in the third to make it a 3-0 lead.
Andrew Najeeb-Brush threw 4.2 scoreless innings but was charged with three runs, one earned.
Brent Montgomery allowed a pair of runs, both unearned, as part of a four-run fifth inning and was charged with the loss. The Cougars (10-1) added two more runs in the seventh.
Despite five Azusa Pacific errors in game two, the Gators couldn't break through. SF State grabbed another early lead with a two-run first but the Cougars answered in the bottom half of the inning. The game remained knotted until the tenth. A two-out, bases-loaded wild pitch in the tenth led to the game-winning run for the Cougars.
