SAN RAMON, Calif. — San Francisco State women's soccer player
Tami Kwong has been named CCAA Player of the Week for Oct. 15-21.
The sophomore scored a pair of goals as the Golden Gators secured their first postseason berth since 2010. Kwong scored the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Stanislaus State, then scored the equalizer in the 74th minute in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over then-undefeated Chico State.
Kwong joins teammate
Nicki Rucki, who earned the honor in the fourth week of the season. Kwong leads the Gators with five goals. She is seventh in the CCAA in points per game (.710), goals per game (.357), and tied for sixth with two game-winning goals.
San Francisco State will have to wait to see how the CCAA bracket shakes out, and whether the Gators will earn homefield advantage. The first round of the CCAA Championships will take place on Tuesday, October 30. During the bye week, the Gators will look to stay sharp with a contest at UC Merced (NAIA) on Saturday, October 27 at 1 p.m. Live stats and video will be available provided by the Bobcats and in-game updates will be available on Twitter at
