BB | Gators Drop Finale, Still Take Series at CSUDH

CARSON, Calif. — The San Francisco State team jumped out to a 2-0 lead but dropped the series finale, 8-3, on Saturday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The Gators (10-19/10-14 CCAA) went without an error but the Toros (9-21/6-18 CCAA) got to starter Jeff Piver (2-1). The righty suffered his first loss, allowing a three-run homer in the first and a two-run homer in the second. He ended his day after four innings and allowed seven runs on seven hits.

The Gators got on the scoreboard in the first inning first thanks to a full-count, bases-loaded walk to Trevor Rogers, followed by a wild pitch that scored a run but the Gators left the bases loaded.

The Gators drew a season-high 12 walks but also stranded 14 runners. The Gators plated a run in the fifth on a wild pitch and got the tying to run to the plate with the bases loaded but a pair of strikeouts left the bases loaded yet again.

Daniel Jimenez allowed one run in one and two-thirds innings of work out of the bullpen. Cy Vojak retired a pair of batters and Brett Elgin struck out a pair in one and two-thirds innings.
