BB | Gators Walk Off in Game One vs. CSULA

SAN FRANCISCO — Jackson Kritsch's walk-off single gave the San Francisco State baseball team a 7-6 victory to open the four-game series versus third-place Cal State LA on Saturday afternoon at Maloney Field.

Jordan Abernathy kept the ninth inning alive for the Gators (12-19/11-14 CCAA) with a two-out single through the left side that moved Antone Self up to second. David Mansell pinch ran for self and scored standing up on Kritsch's hit, which landed in shallow center field.

After allowing a run in the first, the Gators tied the game in the second on Self's golf shot to shallow right center. The Golden Eagles (18-12/15-10 CCAA) went back ahead in the third with a solo shot from Andrew Gregory and a two-run homer by Jorge Garcia, both with two outs.

The Gators pulled to within a run in the fifth thanks to four consecutive singles. Kritsch began the rally with a one-out single through the left side, followed by Damon DeVergilio's single up the middle. Harley Lopez's single back up the middle brought home Kritsch and DeVirgilio scored on another single up the middle off the bat of Brady Dorn.

The Golden Eagle got a run back in the sixth but the Gators answered with two runs in the bottom half of the frame. DeVirglio's single off of pitcher Gabe Ramos' glove plated Antone Self and a Lopez groundout to the right side tied the game at 5-5.

Abernathy's pinch-hit double to left center in the seventh inning gave the Gators a 6-5 lead but it was short-lived. Reliever Jordan Yrastorza induced a double play groundout in the top of the eighth but a run scored to tie the game back at 6-6.

Starter Dillon Houser went six and a third innings for the Gators and gave up five runs. Cameron Crone picked up the win and moved to 2-2 with a scoreless ninth inning of work.
