CARSON, California - In thrilling fashion, the San Francisco State women's basketball team defeated host Cal State Dominguez Hills, 71-66, for their fourth-straight victory on Thursday night.
- It is the second time this season five players have scored in double figures, with the first coming in the win against the Academy of Art when six players had double-digit points.
- Toni Edwards dropped a career-high 14 points and added five assists. Taimane Lesa-Hardee poured in 13 points and was 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Amani Alexander added 12 points including a pair of clutch three pointers.
- Jhaina Stephens recorded her fifth double-double of the season and third straight with 17 points and 12 boards. Danielle Palmer scored ten for her second consecutive double-digit scoring performance.
- The victory is the fourth straight for SF State (6-7/5-3 CCAA), which is the longest since the 2015-16 season when they also won four straight. The six overall wins and five CCAA victories are also the most since 2015-16 campaign.
- The Toros (7-5/3-3 CCAA), who have the third-ranked scoring offense in the CCAA with 71.4 points per game, were limited to a 30 percent (21-69) from the field.
- The Gators forced 25 turnovers, which is tied-for-the most this season, and scored 31 points off turnovers.
- SF State shot 43 percent (25-58) from the floor, which is the fourth-highest mark this year, and the 71 total points are the third-most scored this campaign.

Edwards got SF State on the board from the line, and Palmer put the Gators up 3-2 with a layup with 7:43 left in the first off a nice pass from Stephens. Edwards widened the lead to 6-3 midway through the quarter on her first bucket, and on the other end the Gator defense held the Toros to just 1-of-14 from the floor and scoreless for over six minutes. Stephens battled through for a layup off an assist from Taisia Fleming as the Gators now led 9-3, and she added another bucket with 1:32 left to make it an eight-point advantage. The Toros'Â Nautica Morrow ended the drought with a free throw, but Edwards answered with a layup to put SF State up 13-4. The Gators ended the first on a 12-2 run and held Dominguez Hills to just seven percent (1-of-14) from the floor in the first ten minutes.

The Toros found their offensive rhythm to start the second with an 11-0 run that put them up 15-13 at the five-minute mark before Alexander tied things up with a basket. The senior then drained a three from the left side that put the Gators back up by a pair, 18-16, and Isabella Lamonea followed with a triple of her own for the five-point advantage. Lesa-Hardee and Stephens closed out the half with baskets to give the Gators a 25-20 lead at the half.
The hosts cut into the lead with a quick jumper to start the second half. SF State then went on a 6-0 run, capped off by a Palmer basket, as they now led 31-22. However once again the Toros bounced back to score five points over the span of 37 seconds, and later took a 39-37 lead following a Dijour Ledbetter layup with 4:25 remaining in the third. Trailing 43-40, Alexander converted from the charity stripe and Palmer made a jumper that tied things up, 43-all. With 12 seconds left Zhane Carter made a three-pointer that wrapped up the frame and gave the Toros a 49-47 lead.
Dominguez Hills pulled ahead 53-47 before Lesa-Hardee made a basket. Down 57-52, Alexander made another triple and prompted a run in which the Gators cut it to one with 5:44 left as part of a 5-0 run and strong shooting by Edwards, Stephens and Palmer who each went 3 of-their-last-4 from the floor. Palmer kept it going to reach double digits and put SF State up 58-57 with a nice contested layup off a pass from Edwards. Lesa-Hardee continued her strong performance from the line with two free throws that put SF State up 60-59 with 4:12 left in regulation. Knotted 62-all, Stephens made a jumper off a pass from Edwards with just under two to go for the lead, and following an Alexander basket she hit another won for a six-point lead. Carter's fourth three-pointer of the night brought the Toros to within two with 57 second left. Stephens iced the game with a two free throws with six seconds left as the Gators sealed the win.
