Kurtis Clem and
Andrew Herrera led San Francisco State on Saturday at the Menlo Open with first-place finishes in their respective weight classes.
Justin Pichedwatana placed second at 184 pounds. The Gators sent just six wrestlers to the event but still placed seventh out of 13 teams.
Clem moved to 7-4 on the season. Herrera improved to 7-6 with his championship bout victory, which was his second win over CMU's Anthony Lodermeier. Pichedwatana ran his win streak to eight before falling in the 184-lb. final. He is now 10-5 on the season and leads the Gators in victories.
