SAN FRANCISCO — Sophomore
Crinan Dunbar's brace lifted the San Francisco State men's soccer team to victory on Senior Day, a 2-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills at Cox Stadium.
- The Gators honored the team's nine seniors, who all started, in a pregame ceremony: Miles Burditt, Gustav Fink, Ruben Gomez Jr., Richard Leon, Uzoma Onuoma, Jonathan Orozco, Brandon Sands, Francisco Saucedo, and Jose Torres.
- SF State (10-6/7-5 CCAA) has reached the 10-win mark for three consecutive seasons, coinciding with the Gators' three playoff appearances.
- Dunbar's pair of goals gives him three total on the season, resulting in a new career-high as well as a new career-high in points.
- The Gators held a slight 16-15 shot advantage but had seven on frame compared to four for the Toros (4-11-1/3-8 CCAA).
Dunbar got the Gators going in the 29th minute on a set piece off of an assist from Ramiro Palencia.
The Gators doubled their lead in the 63rd minute when
Seiya Otsuka found Dunbar for his second score of the day.
Peter Swinkels made four saves en route to his fifth shutout of the year. Bryan Shihad made five saves but allowed both Gators goals.
Head Coach Pedro Osório: "Today was a really special day for our team. We have a tremendous senior class in these nine wonderful young men. We've had a strong regular season and it put us in a position to make today about them. Our team did an amazing job honoring our seniors, and grabbing some momentum heading into playoffs. We all look forward to our rematch in San Diego on Tuesday."
