SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's soccer team closed out its 2019 season on Saturday at Cox Stadium with a 1-0 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills.
- SF State honored its five seniors prior to the match. All five – Niko Baila, Kelsey Bozart, Llaritza Torres, Valentina Riveros, and Karla Ramos– started as well. Torres, who is injured, kicked the ball off to begin the match, then was subbed off in an emotional moment for her and the team.
- The Gators (2-14-1/0-12 CCAA) were outshot 12-5 but both teams placed three shots on goal.
- With the win, CSUDH (8-7-2/6-4-1 CCAA) clinched the fifth seed in the CCAA Tournament.
The Toros' first shot of the match, taken by Holly Kaemerle off of a ball from Vanessa Campos in the 19th minute, found the back of the net. Kaemerle had a near-miss in the 29th minute with a shot off the post and a few other Toros threats sailed high. In the 39th minute, Matilda Cassel Ledin's shot to the left side was saved off the line by a Toros defender.
In the second half, Kelsie Bozart's shot in the 74th minute was saved, as was Katelyn Patterson's attempt the 85th minute. SF State had one more opportunity but was whistled offside in the final minute.
Hayley Garriott finished with a pair of saves, including a hard-struck ball in the 61st minute.
