SAN FRANCISCO — Tuesday night's match came down to the final bout but a pair of pins and two bouts decided by riding time propelled the San Francisco State wrestling team to a 24-19 win over visiting Southern Oregon on Tuesday night inside the Main Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.
The Raiders (3-4) took the first two weight classes with a 5-2 decision at 125 pounds and a fall at 133 pounds.
Alex Felix won a close decision at 141 pounds thanks to riding time to get the Gators on the board and
Jeremy Huang recorded a 9-3 decision at 149 pounds. 157-pound
Maxamillian Schneider continued his dominant season with a fall in 1:22 to put the Gators up 12-9, though SOU briefly regained the lead thanks to a major decision at 165 pounds.
Maleselino Salt's gritty 9-5 victory put the Gators up for good and No. 5
Justin Pichedwatana extended the lead with a fall in 1:32. SOU 197-pounder Cylus Hoke made it interesting with a fall in a minute, making the match come down to the final bout. Gators heavyweight
Justin Ramos sealed the win by putting pressure on early with an escape and won thanks to riding time as SF State moves to 5-2 on the season.
The Golden Gators head north on Wednesday, December 18 to face Simpson. The match will be hosted in Chico at 6:30 p.m.
