CHICO, Calif. — The San Francisco State wrestling team posted a dominant 45-6 showing over host Simpson on Wednesday night for a perfect 5-0 month.
The Gators, who are receiving votes in the NCAA Division II rankings, are now 6-2 on the season. The Gators move to 4-0 in meetings with Simpson dating back to 2015, leaving no doubt in Wednesday's match after narrowly beating the Red Hawks 27-26 last season. The Gators jumped out to a 39-0 lead before Jacob Gonsalves got the Red Hawks on the board with a fall at 197 pounds. Notably, the Gators scored three falls (
Maxamillian Schneider at 157 pounds,
Maleselino Salt at 174 pounds, and heavyweight
Justin Ramos), a pair of tech falls (
Tyee Ducharme at 165 pounds, No. 5
Justin Pichedwatana at 184 pounds), and pair of major decisions (

The Golden Gators begin the new year with the Menlo Open on Saturday, January 4.
