COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — San Francisco State wrestler
Maxamillian Schneider has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) wrestler of the week.
Schneider, who is ranked No. 12 in the nation at 157 pounds, joins teammates
Justin Pichedwatana and
Mason Boutain as Gators who have earned the honor this season.
He led the No. 25 Gators to a perfect 5-0 in December. His win by fall in 1:22 over Southern Oregon's Nick Peterson earned him the top play on the KPIX 11 p.m. sports broadcast and he followed that up with a pin of Simpson's Patrick Garcia in 1:02.
Schneider opened January with a first-place finish at the Menlo Open, going 4-0 with three pins for the day. Most recently, on January 10, Schneider pinned both of his opponents as the Gators went 1-1 versus a pair of nationally ranked opponents. Versus No. T19 Chadron State, he pinned No. 7 Chase Clasen in just 39 seconds. He pinned No. 11 Adams State's Ryan Rochford in just 43 seconds.
The Golden Gators next head to Colorado for a pair of duals hosted by No. 18 Colorado Mines on Friday, January 17. SF State will face New Mexico Highlands and the host Orediggers.
