COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. —
Maxamillian Schneider has been named the 2019-20 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Wrestler of the Year the conference announced on Thursday. The 157-pounder was also named to the First Team along with teammate
Mason Boutain (149 lb.).
Justin Pichedwatana (184 lb.) was named to the Second Team.
Schneider is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation at 157 pounds. The Chicago native posted an incredible perfect 18-0 regular season record including 14-0 in duals. He has notched a total of 12 pins this year, including 11 in the first period and six in the first minute of action.
Boutain is currently ranked No. 5 in the nation at 149 pounds and sports a 16-2 overall record. Of his sixteen victories, only one has been a regular decision. He has five pins, five tech falls, four major decisions, and an injury default.
Currently ranked No. 9 at 184 pounds, Pichedwatana is 24-3 this season and 11-2 in duals. Six of his wins have been by fall, five by tech fall , and four by major decision.
The major awards and the All-RMAC teams were nominated and voted on by the conference's eight head wrestling coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own student-athletes. Every RMAC wrestling program was represented on the All-RMAC teams including seven different institutions earning First-Team honors. The Gators were one of three teams with two First Team All-RMAC selections.
The No. 13 Gators and the rest of the RMAC wrestling programs will compete at the NCAA Super Region VI Championships on Feb. 29 in Nebraska, Kearney. Click
