Marcella Salyer, who led the San Francisco State Gators to a 1-0-1 week, has been named the CCAA Women's Soccer Player of the week, for the week of Oct. 18-24.
Salyer and the Gators kept Chico State scoreless in a draw on Friday before taking a 2-1 win at Humboldt State on Sunday.
San Francisco State has gone unbeaten in four straight matches (3-0-1) and is 5-1-2 in CCAA play, tied for second place. Picked to finish last in the preseason poll, the Gators are now just one point behind first place Sonoma State.
Against the fourth-place Wildcats, the junior from Manteca faced 12 shots with three saves in all 110 minutes of play. At Humboldt State, Salyer also saw 12 shots and saved three.
For the season Salyer has a .953 Goals-Against-Average, eighth best in the conference, and a .800 saves percentage with four shutouts.
The Gators host Cal State East Bay on Friday, October 29 in a battle of two second-place sides before hosting Stanislaus State on Sunday, October 31.
