OAKLAND, Calif. – The San Francisco women's basketball team fell on the road to Montana State University Billings 64-51 at Tobin Gym. While the Gators never let the game get out of hand, they were unable to comeback from an early deficit.
- The Gators fall to 1-1 on the season. The Yellowjacks improve to 4-1 with their only loss on the season to #1 Lubbock Christian University
- Mya Blake led the scoring for the Gators with 14 points. Ashley Hart also finished in double-digit figures with 12.
- Addison Gardner and Skylar Patton each had 11 for the Yellowjacks.
- After a hot shooting day the day before, the Gators finished with a 34.0 shooting percentage and only 13.0
- The Gators had 25 personal fouls, leading to 25 free throw opportunities
The Yellowjacks opened up the first quarter with a 11-2 scoring run. A jumper from Hart stopped the bleeding for a bit before the Yellowjackets pushed the lead to 12 points at the end of the first quarter.
Neither team scored for almost two minutes in the second quarter until a jumper from the Yellowjackets gave them a 27-13. Hart made three baskets in a row to put the Gators within eight but Montana Billings pulled away to take a 34-21 lead heading into the locker room.
The Gators clamped down on defense and held the Yellowjackets to 1-for-13 on field goals and seven points in the quarter. A jumper from Taimane Lesa-Hardee cut Montana Billings' lead to five before the Yellowjackets made a pair of free throws to go up 41-34.
The Yellowjackets led by 10 or more points the majority of the fourth quarter. The Gators had issues with fouls throughout the quarter as the Yellowjackets went 8-for-11 from the line.
