Stefano McKinney and the Gators looked sharp on Saturday.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The San Francisco State wrestling team continued to show growth in extra countable matches versus host Cal Poly at O'Neill Green.
Rather than a typical team dual, seven matches were contested. However, Saturday's event is not an official dual meet as only six of the 10 weight classes were contested. The bouts are considered Extra Countable Matches, giving the meet official status, but no team score is compiled.
The Gators were victorious in four of the seven bouts. Stefano Mckinney (133 lb.) and Marco Rufinelli (157 lb.) both won their bouts by decision.
Josh Tolentino (141 lb.) improved to 11-1 on the season with a tech fall and
Mason Boutain (157 lb.) moved to 2-0 with a major decision.
"I think we've really shaken the rust off and are back in the swing of things again. The guys competed great today and have made serious jumps since the beginning of the month. It's good to be back!" said Head Coach
Jason Welch. "I'm especially proud of
Marco Ruffinelli for bumping up a weight class and getting the win!"
The Golden Gators head to Bakersfield, California for the Roadrunner Open on Sunday, November 21. Live stats will be available on
