How it Happened

Alvarado landed a driving layup to give the Gators an early 3-2 lead but the lead would be short lived. The Cougar's Velaquez scored a jumper a minute later before both teams went cold for nearly four minutes. Lesa-Hardee knocked back a jumper to reclaim the lead. The Cougars landed back-to-back jumpers to take back the lead and go up 16-10 at the end of the quarter.

SF State had its best offensive output in the second quarter when they shot 50.0 percent from the field. The Gators went on a 6-0 run capped off by a last second layup from Samaria Velazquez to close out the quarter.

Trailing by two to open the third quarter, both teams traded baskets to keep the two-point deficit. The Cougars used a 11-0 run to take a 46-33 lead with 6:34 left in the quarter. The Gators were unable to keep up with the Cougar offense as the Cougars finished the second half with 50 points compared to the Gators' 35.
