By the Numbers
  • SF State improves to 4-1 while William Jessup falls to 1-6.
  • The Gators have won four in a row and all four matches have been shutouts. They'll look to match the program's five-match win streak from 2019.
  • Wednesday's affair was a physical match with the Warriors whistled for 13 fouls and the Gators 10. Three yellow cards were issued, and one player on each team was issued a red card when things got chippy at the end of the match. SF State's Yousef Alenezi was shown a red card and will miss the Gators' final two non-conference contests.
  • With his assist on the game-winner, Gustavo Ferrari has recorded a point in every contest so far. He now has 16, most among CCAA players. He entered play fifth in the nation in total points and third in points per game.

How They Scored

The Gators earned a penalty kick within the first two minutes of play but Ferrari's shot was saved. SF State dominated the half with six shots to one and a 3-0 corner kick advantage but London Lombana came off the bench to give the Gators a boost. He subbed in at the 34th minute and in the 42nd minute got the Gators on the scoreboard. Ferrari drew a pair of defenders and flicked the ball forward to Lombana, who went towards the right of the goal and finished to the left post.

Lombana added an insurance goal in the 86th minute. Samuel Twigg played an arcing ball from the left side of the pitch that Ramiro Palencia settled and kicked back to Lombana, who scored from the top right of the goal box.

It was great to see the team really strap in and play both sides of the ball," said SF State Head Coach Pedro Osório. "Our defense was excellent and our depth was also on display today with our subs making a huge impact. London and Ramiro, in particular, were dynamite and it really gave us a huge boost."
