SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State baseball team was selected to finish fifth in 2022 CCAA baseball preseason coaches poll as announced by the conference Wednesday.
The Gators edged out Stanislaus State by a point to finish with 66 points. Cal Poly Pomona was voted first with six first-place votes and 116 points overall.
SF State returns several key players from 2020 including
Richie Rios,
Nick Upstill,
Tyler Franks and
Jordyn Eglite. In addition, the Gators added several talented transfers and incoming freshmen to the roster.
The Gators made the CCAA tournament in 2018 and 2019 and finished the shortened 2020 season with a 14-8 record that included a split series with 2022 preseason favorites Cal Poly Pomona.
SF State begins its season at home at Maloney Field with a series against Colorado Springs starting on February 11. CCAA play begins February 25 at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The top six teams at the end of the regular season will play in the CCAA Tournament, hosted by Chico State from May 11-14.
