SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State women's basketball team opened up conference action with a 60-55 win over Cal State Monterey Bay at the Kelp Bed. The Otters came within a possession in the fourth quarter but the Gators made enough free throw shots and played good defense to preserve the lead.

- Gators improve to 4-2 on the season while CSUMB falls to 3-2.
- SF State has opened up conference with a win in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
- Tierra Snipes led SF State with 15 points. Snipes, who entered the game 2-for-18 from the charity stripe, finished 7-for-10. Snipes also had her first career double-double with 11 boards.
- Mya Blake continued to stuff the stat sheet, finishing with 12 points, five assists, four steals, four rebounds and a block.
- The Gators finished with 13 steals compared to The Otter's seven. Taimane Lesa-Hardee chipped in three steals.
The Gators did not get on the board until there was 6:14 left in the first quarter when
Jolene Armendariz shot a step back three to cut the Otter's lead to 7-3. Blake made two more threes in the first quarter and a couple of made free throws helped the Gators take a 14-11 lead at the end of the quarter.
After a stretch of back and forth made baskets from both sides, the Gators went on a 15-5 run to close out the second quarter and take a 33-22 lead heading into the locker room. Snipes accounted for 11 of the 15 points.
Gators led by as much as 16 in the third quarter as they maintained a double-digit lead throughout most of the third. After a jumper from

Taimane Lesa-Hardee put the Gators up 56-49 with less than a minute to go. SF State went 4-for-6 from the line and Snipes grabbed the rebound after a miss from a second chance basket with less than 15 seconds to go to seal the win.
