PHOENIX — The San Francisco State wrestling team wrapped up the calendar year with a trio of duals on Saturday. The Gators dropped their opening match, 39-6, to RMAC opponent CSU Pueblo. SF State notched its sixth dual victory of the season with a 26-18 victory over Simon Fraser, and wrapped up the day with a 37-6 loss to No. 20 Minnesota State.

The Gators got off to a slow start versus CSU Pueblo. The Gators fell victim to fall in five weight classes. Josh Tolentino (157 lb.) and Kyle Botelho (165 lb.) provided bright spots for the Gators with a couple of decisions.

SF State bounced back with a 26-18 win over Simon Fraser. The Gators went down early after the Red Leafs earned a pair of pins. Tony Margiotta got the Gators on the board at 133 lb. with a tech fall and Josh Tolentino later did the same at 157 lb. Gage Mettler scored a first-period pin for the Gators to put them up 23-12 after seven bouts and Gavin Funk sealed the win with a 6-4 decision at 184 lb.
