SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco State women's basketball Assistant Coach Stephanie Perez and volleyball Assistant Coach Torre Glasker have been selected to receive a full-tuition scholarship to the NCAA Women Coaches Academy, hosted in partnership between WeCOACH and the NCAA. The conference will take place in Denver, Colorado from May 24-26. The scholarships were bestowed upon the coaches from the CCAA office, in coordination with the CCAA Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

"We are so excited and proud that Coach Perez and Coach Glasker have been selected to the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy.  Extreme gratitude to the CCAA Diversity and Inclusion Committee for creating the initiative to provide the scholarships for these recipients to attend," lauded San Francisco State Athletic Director Stephanie Shrieve-Hawkins. "With a disproportionate number of female leadership in athletics, in particular Black, Indigenous, Women of Color at Head Coaching positions, this opportunity for Coach Perez and Coach Glasker, as well as the other women who will be attending, is vital to support equity through social change. Congratulations to both of them and a big thank you to the NCAA and WeCoach for providing this forum to enrich their talents and accelerate the leadership aspirations for all women coaches."

The three-day educational training is designed for women coaches who are ready and willing to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success. Participants will focus on non-sport specific concepts in an environment that fosters inclusion across the sports community. The Academy is for women coaches at NCAA Division I, II, or III member institutions. Since the first WCA session in 2003, 50 Academies have taken place, producing more than 1,900 graduates.

Glasker assisted in guiding the volleyball team to a 22-5 record in her first season with the Gators. Perez has worked with a young roster that includes six freshman. Women's basketball currently sits at 8-13 on the season.
