By the Numbers

  • With the split, the Gators finish the season 23-30 overall while the Coyotes finish at 21-27 overall. Both teams finished at 14-22 in CCAA play, behind sixth-place Cal State East Bay. The Pioneers punched their ticket to the CCAA Tournament by winning game one on Saturday, 4-0 over Stanislaus State.
  • SF State recorded 18 hits in game two. The 18 hits are the most by a Gators team in a single game. SF State has only reached that number five times, three of which came this season.
  • The Gators turned a double play in each game on Saturday, bringing the team's season total to 34, which is the most among all NCAA Division II programs.
  • SF State had six stolen bases on the day, bringing the team's season total to a conference-best 122.
  • Vallejos hit her team-leading tenth homer in game one, which ties the individual lead in the CCAA with Cal Poly Humboldt's Vanessa Saltos. Vallejos' 17 career home runs are sixth all-time as a Gator. She finishes the season with a team-high .408 batting average and is the first Gator to post a career batting average higher than .400 at a program-best .426.
  • Kira Nilson hit .571 (8-for-14) in the series with a run scored in each game. She finished the season hitting .317.

How They Scored
  • The Gators jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Sydney Jenkins got the scoring started with a sac fly. Then, Marley Gonzales drove in a pair with a single up the middle. With Gonzales at third and Dani Guerrera on first, the pair executed a double steal that resulted in Gonzales scoring.
  • The lead didn't hold though as the Coyotes rattled off eight unanswered runs.
  • Vallejos cut the lead to two in the sixth with a two-out, two-run blast but that's as close at the Gators would get in game one.

How They Scored
  • Vincent singled home Vallejos in the top of the first to put the Gators up in the first.
  • In the third, Vallejos scored again on a Jenkins single to left center. Jenkins later came around to score on a fielder's choice that made it 3-0.
  • The Coyotes answered in the bottom of the third. Martinez drove home a run but the Gators caught a break when the relay from right caught Alexis Aguado at the plate trying to score from second. Tereise Tosi singled home two to tie it and Bailey Wallace gave CSUSB the lead with an RBI double to left center.
  • SF State showed no quit. In the fourth, Lehua DeLeon singled home her sister, Kai DeLeon, to tie the game at 4-4.
  • Kaylee Williamson put the Coyotes back ahead in the fifth with an RBI single up the middle.
  • Halle Nugent blasted her fourth homer of the season to knot things again in the sixth.
  • The Gators took the lead for good in the seventh. Samantha Renteria, Nugent, and Lehua DeLeon all drove home runs with bases-loaded singles that grew the lead to 8-5.
  • Williamson got a run back in the bottom of the seventh with another RBI single.
