SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco State center fielder
Brylynn Vallejos has been named to both the D2CCA Softball All-American Second Team and the NFCA Division II All-American Second Team, the respective associations announced on Wednesday.
Fifty-four student-athletes from 43 different institutions were voted to one of three 2022 National Fastpich Coaches Association Division II All-America teams. The NFCA All-America teams are voted on by the Association's All-America Committees. In Division II, the committee is comprised of one member head coach from each of the NCAA's eight regions. All student-athletes who were nominated by a member head coach and voted to the first- and second-team All-Region teams were eligible for All-America consideration. Vallejos earns the honor for the second time in her career and was one of six West Region players to earn the honor in 2022.
Vallejos was one of 42 student-athletes named to the 2022 NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-America Softball first-, second-, or third team and is the first SF State player in program history to earn the honor since the honor was introduced in 2007. The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities. Just three players from the West Region were recognized by the D2CCA. Azusa Pacific pitcher Paige Austin was named to the First Team by both organizations while Cal State San Marcos first baseman Paige Donnelly earned NFCA Third Team Honors and garnered D2CAA honorable mention.
Vallejos was also recently named to the 2022 Softball Academic All-District
® Team, presented by CoSIDA, marking Vallejos' second time earning the award in as many chances. She is currently on the CoSIDA Academic All‐America
® ballot. First‐, second‐ and third‐team Academic All‐America
® honorees will be announced in June.
Additionally, Vallejos was named to both the 2022 NFCA Division II All-West Region First Team and to the 2022 D2 CCAA All-West Region First Team. The Kinesiology major was named to the 2022 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Year awards Top 25 watch list. In 2020, Vallejos was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team and a CCAA All-Star in the pandemic-shortened season. As a freshman in 2019, she was named a finalist for National Player of the Year and National Freshman of the Year and earned NFCA All-American Second Team and All-West Region First Team honors, D2CCA All-West Region First Team honors, and was the CCAA Freshman of the Year and an All-CCAA First Team selection. She has twice been named to the NFCA Top 50 Watch List, in 2020 and again this season.
