New Orleans - The San Francisco State men's and women's track and field teams were both named 2022 Scholar Athlete Teams by U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In addition, Amy Christensen was named an Academic Athlete by the USTFCCCA.

To qualify for the team award, the cumulative GPA for all student-athletes must be above a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The men had a cumulative GPA of 3.39 while the women had a cumulative GPA of 3.54. The women's team had the highest GPA of any CCAA team honored while the men's GPA was second highest out of CCAA schools and 16th best overall.

In order to qualify as an All-Academic Athlete, a student-athlete must have minimum cumulative grade point average of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the semester of competition and must have completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours through the end of the semester of competition at the institution. In addition, a student-athlete must have achieved an automatic-or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor season or outdoor season. Christensen posted a provisional qualifying mark in the indoor pole vault with her school record breaking mark of 3.69m.

The Gators were able to complete a full season in track and field for the first time since 2019. The women placed seventh overall at CCAA Championships and had two athletes on the podium. The men earned points at the CCAA Championships for the first time since 2004 to place eighth overall.
