SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco State Wrestling announces the addition of Scott Loescher to the wrestling staff. Loescher will specialize in working with the upper-middleweights as well as continuing his oversight of the freestyle and Greco-Roman development.
"I'm extremely excited to get Scott into our room," lauded Head Wrestling Coach
Jason Welch. "He brings a wealth of knowledge to the team and is also a great role model for our student-athletes. His specialties in Greco-Roman wrestling will be a dangerous addition to our middle-upper weights repertoire soon. Scott has done a wonderful job working with our Regional Training Center in the Olympic styles, and I'm excited to transition him into a more core role with our program"
Loescher, a Stanford wrestling alumni, had an outstanding college career for the Cardinals; recording 58 career wins and capping it off with a fourth place finish at the Pac-10 tournament. During his college career and post-graduation, Loescher has been an active competitor in the Olympic styles, specializing in Greco-Roman wrestling, with multiple high placements at the U.S. Open and World Team Trials in Greco over the years. He still actively competes at the veteran division.
Post graduation, Loescher has also remained active in promoting the sport in the local community. He currently serves as a Board Member with Beat the Streets Bay Area. The organization is dedicated to empowering and transforming the lives of youth through the sport of wrestling.
