ELLENSBURG, Wash. — A late goal was the difference as the San Francisco State women's soccer team fell 2-1 to host Central Washington on Saturday afternoon at Tomlinson Stadium.
- The Gators (0-2) are now 2-4-1 all-time versus the Wildcats (1-1). Both of the Gators victories came in double overtime, though overtime has now been eliminated for regular-season contests.
- SF State held a 5-4 shot advantage in the first half but CWU ultimately took a 14-9 advantage, including 6-5 shots on goal.
- The Gators also held a 4-1 corner kick advantage.
The Wildcats took the lead in the 14th minute on Stacia Conely's pass to Emily Darcy but the Gators wasted little time answering. Emily Fraye connected with Samantha Shim in the 16th minute for the equalizer, and the two teams played to a 1-1 tie at halftime. The score remained knotted until the 81st minute, and Darcy's second goal of the match proved to be the game-winner. The Gators had a corner kick less than 30 seconds after the goal but were unable to convert.
Marcella Salyer (0-2) went the distance for the Gators and made four saves. CWU split time between Mallory Patzer and Kassandra Jaggard. Patzer allowed the first-half goal and both keepers made a pair of saves.
SF State returns home for its first home contest of the season on Thursday, Septeber 8 at noon versus Hawai'i Hilo. Tickets are available for purchase here.
