Tony Margiotta notched a pair of wins at the 32nd Tracy Borah Duals.
GUNNISON, Colo. — The San Francisco State wrestling team faced a tough lineup at the 32nd Tracy Borah Duals hosted by Western Colorado. The Gators fell 37-12 to RV Minot State, 27-17 to No. 6 Adams State, and 28-12 to the host Mountaineers, who are also receiving votes in the latest NWCA coaches poll.
The Gators fell behind 9-0 early versus Minot State.
Marco Ruffinelli earned six points at 149 lb. with a fall in 2:50 over Noah Segura but the Gators didn't have much going beyond that, as four of the remaining weight classes were decided by fall in favor of the Beavers.
The Gators jumped out to an 8-0 lead thanks to Zach Wright, who scored a tech fall at 125 lb., and Tony Margiotta, who earned a 9-4 decision at 133 lb. over Isaiah DeLaCerda, who was an All-American in 2021. However, Adams State took the next four weight classes to grab an 18-8 lead. Gage Mettler scored a decision at 174 lb. but two more Grizzlies victories put the match out of reach. Heavyweight Callum Bisping scored the Gators' second fall of the day with a pin in 1:40 over Abraham Garcia.
