Gage Mettler is the Week One Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. Mettler scores the first weekly award of the season after a perfect weekend for the Gators.
Mettler opened the season 4-0 and finished atop the podium in the 174-pound weight class over the weekend at the Menlo Open. The senior kicked of the 2023-24 campaign scoring a fall in just 18 seconds over his Skyline College opponent. The Walnut Creek native then tallied a 12-3 major decision over his opponent from Menlo before earning a 10-4 decision. To close the weekend, Mettler secured the first-place finish with another major decision, this time 11-0 over an opponent from Cal Poly.
