SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State women's basketball team played their final non-conference game of the season, falling to University of Alaska Anchorage 71-51 at Main Gym. The Gators were able to close the game out on a 12-0 run but a poor first two quarters put them too behind to catch up.
- The Gators fall to 2-7 while the Seawolves improve to 6-5. Alaska is on a four-game win streak which includes a win over conference foe Stanislaus.
- Alexsandra Alvarado scored a game-high 15 points. Kali Myers chipped in a career-high 12 points.
- The Seawovles shot 48.1 percent from the field while the Gators only shot 35.1
- Alaska Anchorage had nearly double the number of rebounds the Gators had, outrebounding them 43-23.
- The Seawolves had 32 points from their bench players while the Gators only had nine.
Myers scored on back-to-back turnovers to start the scoring for the Gators. The Seawovles proved to be a team that could not miss in the first quarter and shot 8-for-11 from the field including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arch. Alvarado's three-point shot with 41 seconds left in the quarter made it a two-possession game but a buzzer beater three brought the Seawolves lead back to eight at 23-15. The Gators struggled to connect in the second quarter, only making three baskets and chipping in one basket from the charity strip for seven points in the second quarter. Alaska Anchorage kept its foot on the pedal and took a 42-22 lead into the locker room. The Seawovles would lead by 20+ points the majority of the rest of the game.
The Gators return from winter break with a five game homestand. First game will be against Cal State East Bay at 1 pm on December 31. Fans can stream the game live on the CCAA Network. Live stats will be available at sfstategators.com with updates also available on X at @sfstate_wbb.
