ALLENDALE, Mich. – The San Francisco State women's track and field team traveled to Michigan and competed at The Grand Valley State University Big Meet. Friday and Saturday are considered two separate meets with the majority of Friday's competitors there by invite only.
On Friday,
Mattie Cecilio had a strong performance in the Triple Jump, recording a season best mark of 1.63m, just .04 shy of an NCAA Provisional mark.
Macaria Moore-Bastide placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.63m. Only one other athlete cleared a higher bar than that.
Amy Christensen had a season best mark in the Pole Vault and cleared 3.57m.
Saturday saw more Gators achieve season and personal best marks.
Anika Pettinger competed in her first indoor track meet and recorded a personal best time of 5:13.82 in the mile, good for fourth in school history.
Essence Jackson placed second in both the long and triple jump, achieving personal best marks of 5.36m and 11.15m.

"We had a number of personal bests and this group is quickly piecing it together on what it takes to compete," stated Head Coach
David Thompson. "I am extremely proud of the team's effort. It was exciting for the team to demonstrate the amount of progress we have made. These two days were a positive step towards becoming the team we aspire to be in May."
The Gators send a few athletes to the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite in Seattle in hopes of qualifying for Nationals. The meet will run from February 24-25.
