SAN FRANCISCO - Kody Gardner of the San Francisco State baseball team was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

The award is the first conference honor in Gardner's career. It also marks the first time a Gator has won the award since the 2016 season.

Gardner went 9-for-16 for a .563 average and belted three homers with two doubles and drove in 11 runs to slash a 1.250 slugging percentage. He also scored nine times, walked once and was hit by a pitch once while only striking out twice in 18 plate appearances for an on-base percentage of .611.

The senior from Sacramento, who was All-CCAA Honorable Mention at Designated Hitter a season ago, made the switch to first base and assisted on three double-plays.

The Gators host CSU Pueblo for their home opener starting February 17th at 2 p.m. They were ranked 10th in the first NCBWA West Region poll.
