How It Happened

The Yotes scratched four runs through the first two innings. The Gators cut into the lead in the top of the third with a pair of runs. Kody Gardner reached first safely with two outs after the first basemen bobbled the ball, allowing Sammy Gonzales to come home safely. Cunningham hit an RBI single in the next at bat to make it a 4-2 game.

A pair of solo home runs from the Yotes increased the lead to 6-2, chasing Gators' starting pitcher Nathan Shinn out of the game.

The Gators drew three free bases thanks to a walk and pair of hit by pitches to load the bases in the sixth. Santos swung at a full count and dropped the ball into left center for a two-run RBI single.

Schrader hit his third solo homer of the series to make it a 6-5 game.  Down 7-5 in the eighth, the Gators took their first lead of the game. A sac fly by Matt Sugden brought the Gators within one, an overthrown pick off attempt allowed Cole Thompson to record the tying run and another Sac fly gave the Gators the lead.

A solo homer tied it in the ninth to force extra innings. The Yotes hit a two-out homer to plate two runs in the tenth and end the game.
