How They Scored

  • The Coyotes set the tone early with an unearned run in the first inning. The Gators answered on a delayed double steal attempt. Teya Vincent got stuck in a rundown long enough that allowed DeLeon to score from third.
  • Gators pitcher Brooklyn Heffernan cruised through the second and third innings, including a four-pitch third, and stranded a pair in the fourth. However, the Coyotes got to her in the fifth. A double and four-pitch walk set up a three-run homer from Tereise Tosi.
  • The Gators got a run back in the bottom of the fifth when pinch runner Mattie Scott and Gonzalez executed another double steal and Gonzalez scored. However, Scott was stranded at third.
  • A Shannon Galliano two-out RBI double in the sixth and a two-out RBI single from Alyssa Martinez put the game out of reach.
