How It Happened

A two-run homer gave the Cougars the early lead in the top of the second. The Gators plated three in the third to take their first lead of the day. Upstill's triple brought Sammy Gonzales home. Cunningham hit an RBI single in the following at bat and a ball sliced down the left field line by Clark allowed Cunningham to score.

An RBI single in the top of the fifth tied the game at 3-3. Gavin Haimovitz hit a sac fly in the bottom of the inning to break the tie and a throwing error by the right fielder allowed another run to score. SF State put another three spot on the board in the sixth. With runners on second and third, Cunningham hit a double down the left field line to score Daniel Santos from third. Justin Clark hit a single deep into center field to clear the bases and give the Gators a 8-3 lead.

San Marcos loaded the bases with no outs. An RBI walk scored a runner before Andrew Silva stepped on the mound in relief. The Cougars hit a two-run RBI single in the first at bat and moved the runners to second and third with a sac bunt. Silva induced a pair of pop-ups to end the rally.
