ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — The San Francisco State baseball team dropped its series finale with Sonoma State 10-5 and dropped the series 1-3. Nick Upstill's school record 12th career triple got the Gators on the board to open the game but the Gators' pitching staff could not contain the Seawolves.
- The Gators fall to 27-21 overall and 20-20 in CCAA action while the Seawolves improves to 22-22 and 16-20 in the conference.
- Upstill's triple was his conference leading ninth of the season and gives him the most in the NCAA heading into postseason.
- Sonoma batters drew nine walks, the most the pitching staff has given up all season. The Gators did not draw a walk against the Seawolves.
- Both Upstill and Kody Gardner went 2-for-4 with an RBI and an extra base hit.
Upstill opened the game with an RBI triple to give the Gators a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
After a clean first inning, the Gator pitching staff ran into programs, giving up seven runs off eight hits through the second and third innings. The Gators put together scoreless frames on defense in the fourth and fifth innings but an error from
Justice Naraghi allowed a run to score in the sixth and a ground out extended the lead to 9-1.
Caleb Chance hit an RBI single to give the Gators multiple runs for the first time this series. In the eighth, Gardner singled down the right field line with runners on the corners to bring one in.
AJ Schrader doubled to plate another and a sac fly from
Derek Laferierre cut the deficit to 9-5. A passed ball with bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth allowed a run to score and gave the Seawolves a 10-5 heading into the final inning. Sonoma retired the side to end the game.
- Jordyn Eglite (2-4) only went 1.1 innings, giving up four hits, four runs and two walks.
- The Gators relied on seven pitchers from the bullpen to finish the game with no pitcher going more than 1.1 innings.
- Michael Benz (2-1) picked up the win in relief.
