A total of 929 student-athletes from across the 12 CCAA member-institutions collected CCAA All-Academic honors in 2022-23. Each posted a 3.40 grade point average or higher and earned a varsity letter in a conference-sponsored sport during the designated academic year.
Â
The CCAA began handing out All-Academic honors in 2005-06, and the 929 selections are the second-most for any academic year, not including the COVID seasons. It just missed the record number of 935 selections in 2021-22.
Â
"I would like to congratulate all of our 2022-23 CCAA All-Academic honorees," saidÂ
CCAA Commissioner Allen Hardison. "The size of this list is so impressive and is a testament to the dedication our student-athletes display on and off the playing surface throughout the year. The hard work these student-athletes put towards academics, training, competition, and being leaders in our communities is something our conference is very proud of. I would also like to thank our coaches, academic advisors, and administration teams across all our campuses that help drive our student-athletes towards success on a daily basis."
Â
Cal State San Marcos led the way this year with 120 honorees. They were the only school to eclipse 100 All-Academic selections. Chico State nearly hit the century mark with 99 award winners, followed closely by San Francisco State with 97. Cal Poly Pomona (94) and Cal State Monterey Bay (89) completed the top 5.Â

Seven of the 12 universities increased their all-academic selections from 2021-22. Cal State San Marcos saw the largest total increase, with an additional 20 student-athletes earning the honor this year. Cal State San Bernardino had the most significant percentage increase year over year, going up by 53.3 percent.
Â
The CCAA and NCAA Division II support the educational mission of college athletics by fostering a balanced and inclusive approach in which student-athletes learn and develop through their desired academic pursuits, civic engagement with their communities, and athletics competition, creating a life in the balance.
Â
The award is designed to demonstrate the academic achievements of each of the CCAA's 12 conference constituents. It illustrates just one of the many ways student-athletes in the conference take advantage of the unique opportunity Division II provides to compete in the classroom, on the field, in their career, for their causes, and on their terms.
