TURLOCK, Calif. — The San Francisco State softball team saw Saturday's games rained out on the team's second day at the 21st Annual Tournament of Champions presented by the City of Turlock.
SF State was in the early innings of Saturday's game versus Azusa Pacific when the game was halted due to heavy rain. Though the stats won't count, the game did prove costly as starting pitcher
Kaitlyn Maddux suffered an ankle injury and had to be carried off the field. The halted games and all remaining games scheduled for Pedretti Park were canceled for the day.
Wet weather has been inescapable this season. SF State's first two weekends at the Concordia Kickoff Classic in Irvine, California and Cactus Classic in Tucson, Arizona were both heavily affected by rain and each of those weekends were limited to four games apiece. The team's home opening series versus Cal State Monterey Bay had to be moved to the road and a March 5 non-conference doubleheader versus Academy of Art was postponed.
Weather permitting, the Gators will play their final game of the 21st Annual Tournament of Champions versus No. 14 Western Washington on Sunday, March 24 at 2:30 p.m. The game has been moved fo Warrior Softball Field on the Stan State campus. Live stats will be available at
