Eight Other Gators Garner Honor Roll Status

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Francisco State wrestlers Tony Margiotta and Gage Mettler been named to the 2023-24 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestling Academic All-Academic First Team.

The RMAC Men's Wrestling All-Academic First Team is nominated and voted on by the league's nine sports information directors. Sports information directors are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
 
A graduate student majoring in Finance, Margiotta boasts a 3.90 GPA. The Walnut Creek native went 14-6 overall, including 7-1 in duals. He racked up three tech falls, one major decision, and one fall. Margiotta was recently named to the NWCA Division II Scholar All-America Team for the third time. In his career, he has also earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award.

Mettler boasts a 3.97 GPA and is majoring in Political Science and International Relations. The fellow Walnut Creek native was 16-7 overall and 7-3 in duals. Mettler recorded five major decisions, four falls, and a tech fall. He was one of nine Gators named to the 2023-24 NWCA Division II Scholar All-America Team.

Eight additional Gators were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll: Brayden Concepcion (Visual Communication Design major, 3.65 GPA), Laith Gilmore (Economics major, 3.83 GPA), Josiah Hurd (Business major, 3.71 GPA), Kydyn Lima (Business Finance major, 3.59 GPA), Lawrence Saenz (MBA, 3.45 GPA), Conrado Trevino-Oceguera (Kinesiology Major, 3.50 GPA), Zach Wright (Kinesiology major, 3.33 GPA), and Sean Yamasaki (Kinesiology major, 3.58 GPA).

To qualify for the RMAC All-Academic First Team, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA through the most recently completed term. To qualify for the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA through the most recently completed term. For both awards, qualifiers must also have been a student at their respective institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters and must use a season of competition.
