SAN FRANCISCO –
Justin Johnson and
Jacob French of the San Francisco State baseball team earned NCBWA West Region honors, both named Honorable Mention selections. The duo has spearheaded the Gators offense all season, both being named to the CCAA Second Team and most recently to the CCAA All-Tournament Team.
Johnson has had one of the best single season in program history. Slashing .388/.442/.685, Johnson has recorded 85 hits, 18 doubles, 15 home runs, 71 RBIs and 54 runs. He's one RBI away from breaking the single season record and five hits away. He sits on top of the conference in batting average, hits and RBIs and is top ten in doubles, home runs.
French was one of two freshmen named to the NCBWA West Region Team. The CCAA Freshman of the Year made a big splash in his first season as a Gator. Slashing .360/.440/.590, he had 80 hits, 19 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 54 runs and 45 RBIs. A two-way athlete, French made 11 appearances on the mound, posting a 3-1 record with a 6.39 ERA and 13 strikeouts.
