How It Happened

Concordia scored both of its goals in the first half. After twenty minutes of scoreless play, the Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard in the 24th minute when Hailey Havican settled a ball in the box and made space from a defender to get her shot off for the early lead and her third goal of the young season. Hoping to head into the half down just one, the Gators surrendered another goal just before intermission. In the 44th minute, Ashley Grubert booted one deep and the shot bent in for a 2-0 Golden Eagles lead.

The Gators kept CUI off the board in the second half but were unable to even the score. Samantha Shim had both shots on goal for the Gators. Her first shot, in the 23rd minute just before CUI went up, was saved, as was her second shot in the 77th minute.
