SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The San Francisco State women's cross country team traveled south to race at the Cougar Challenge, hosted by Cal State San Marcos. The Gators kicked the race off early in the morning in overcast weather. The Gators had a strong showing and finished seventh out of 16 teams with 205 points. The had the same number of points as University of Texas San Antonio but were bumped to seventh based on a tie breaker.
Raven Nieto continued her strong start to the season and led the Gators with an 11th place finish and time of 22:03.5.
Yolo Javier was the second Gator to cross the finish line and placed 33rd with a time of 22:35.9.
Daisy Salinas placed 47th and
Julia Pioroda finished just outside of the top 50 at 51.

The Gators host their annual home meet in Golden Gate Park on October 11. The SF State Invitational will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the Speedway meadows. After the meet, the Gators will honor seniors
Daisy Salinas and
Sydney Seyer.
