ALAMOSA, Colo. — The San Francisco State wrestling team (2-5) fell in a pair of duals on Wednesday to CSU Pueblo and host RV Adams State.
The Gators, who are receiving votes in the latest NWCA Coaches Poll, opened day with a close 34-6 setback to CSU Pueblo, with five of those bouts decided by three points or less. RV Adams State, who fell to CSU Pueblo, 22-19 earlier in the day, defeated SF State 31-16 in the second dual.
The ThunderWolves opened up with a 9-0 lead after the first two bouts, a win by fall (3:59) in 125 lb. and an 11-8 decision in 133 lb.. Johnny Lopez put SF State on the board in 141 lb. with a narrow 8-5 win over Hayden Tuma. Zane Stoddard earned three more points for the Gators following an 8-1 decision at 157 lb., his seventh win of the season. Kweli Hernandez-Maitre narrowly dropped his clash in 184 lb., losing by a 4-3 decision.

Wright battled in 133 lb. against Adams State, holding off Adam Concepcion for the 3-2 decision and his fifth victory of the 2024-25 campaign. Lopez (141 lb.) cruised to an 8-0 major decision behind a pair of takedowns, putting SF State up 7-4 in the dual. The Grizzlies leveled the score following a decision at 149 lb., and got two consecutive victories by fall in 157 and 165 lbs.. Hernandez-Maitre bounced back in 184 lb., winning by a 7-3 decision and De Matos added another victory for the Gators in 285 lb., his first win by fall of the year.
