No. 7 Johnny Lopez and the Gators dominated a pair of duals on Friday.
SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State wrestling dominated a pair of duals, 52-0 over Simpson and 30-19 over Simon Fraser, on Friday afternoon inside the Main Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.
The Gators, who are receiving votes in the latest NWCA Coaches Poll, earned their 13th consecutive win over Simpson, and second-straight shutout over the Red Hawks. Evan Kusumoto opened things up with a 21-3 Tech Fall victory in 125 lb., 14 of which points came in the first period, to put the hosts up 5-0. After a forfeit win in 133 lb., No. 7 Johnny Lopez continued his dominate season with a win by Fall in 1:42 in 141 lb., his 15th victory of the 2024-25 campaign. Sean Yamasaki gave the Gators a 21-0 lead in 149 lb., with a 9-1 Major Decision, and Zane Stoddard kept the sweep going with a narrow 4-3 decision in 157 lb.. Kyle Botelho (165 lb.) and Kydyn Lima (174 lb.) each earned SF State six points with wins by Fall in under four minutes of action. Kevin Clements Jr. notched his first Major Decision of the season, edging Bryant Bartlett, 11-2 in 184 lb.. Gavin Funk earned his second win of the year in 197 lb., winning by Fall in just 44 seconds. The Gators earned a forfeit win in 285 lb., to cap off the 52-0 shutout.

Following a forfeit win in 125 lb., Wright earned five more points for the Gators with an 18-3 Tech Fall win in just 1:54, his sixth win of the season. No. 7 won by forfeit in 141 lb., and Yamasaki got his second Major Decision win of the afternoon in 149 lb., defeating Ryan Hicks, 12-3. Magnus McCrackin put the Red Leafs on the board in 157 lb. with a 2-0 decision, but Botelho added to SF State's total in 165 lb. with a 7-0 decision, his fifth-straight win. Lima (174 lb.) won by Fall once again, this time in 2:04 to make the match score, 24-3. Simon Fraser got victories by Fall in 184 and 197 lbs., and Laith Gilmore dropped his 285 lb. bout by Major Decision, 14-2, but the Gators were able to walk away with win, 30-19.
