SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco State women's basketball team came within six of the lead late in the game but fell 69-61 to Cal State East Bay.

- SF State falls to 2-5Â on the season and starts CCAA action 0-1. East Bay improves to 2-5 and 1-0 in the CCAA.
- Three different players reached double figures: Geriah Bradley (16), Leilani Blecha (14) and Athena Brombacher (14)
- The Gators finished with 14 steals off 24 turnovers. Brombacher and Deonna Mayfield each had four.
- SF State shot 30.6 percent from the field while East Bay finished 44.8 percent.
- East Bay dominated the point, scoring 36 points there.
The Gators raced out to an early 12-4 lead with five different players scoring for SF State. A couple of turnovers from the Gators late in the first allowed East Bay to comeback and take the lead. Blecha hit a jumper in the final seconds to tie the quarter up 16-16. Blecha opened the second quarter with a three-pointer to reclaim the lead but it quickly went away as the Pioneers scored threes on the next three possessions to lead 27-24. The Gators went cold and only made two more baskets as East Bay pulled away with a 41-29 lead at the end of the second quarter.
Brombacher added four points to open the third quarter but the Gators were unable to get much going and East Bay by as much as 18. The Gators turned a quarter in the fourth and chipped away at the lead. A pair of turnovers led to Gator points and cut the lead down to 60-54 with 4:29 remaining in the game. The Gators were able to stay in it with chances at the line but didn't make the stops needed at the other end of the quart to complete the comeback.
