SB | No. 23 Gators Punch Ticket to CCAA Tournament

TURLOCK, Calif. – The No. 23 San Francisco State softball team punched its ticket to the 2025 CCAA Tournament with a series sweep of Stanislaus State. The Gators swept Saturday's doubleheader, 2-1 and 9-5.

By the Numbers

  • SF State, which is ranked No. 23 in the NFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, improves to 32-16 overall and 19-13 in CCAA play. The last-place Warriors fall to 13-31 overall and 8-24 in conference action. The Gators clinch a spot to the CCAA Tournament while Stan State is eliminated from the postseason hunt.
  • Mari Takeda Bajan delivered another gem in the circle with a two-hit shutout for her 14th win and 13th complete game. Her 14 wins are tied for fourth most among CCAA pitchers.
  • Daniella Guerrera drove home a pair of runs in game two to give her 101 career RBI. She is now fifth all time in program history, passing Kristin Bartholomay (2004-07) in the process.
  • The Gators stole six bases and now have 86 on the year, the sixth most by a Gators team in a single season.
  • SF State has scored 227 runs, which is seventh most by a Gators team in a single season.
  • The Gators had nine RBI in game two and now have 203 on the season, which is fourth most by a Gators team in a single season.
  • Lexi Holihan launched her first home run of the season on Saturday. Six different Gators have hit it out of the ballpark this season.

How They Scored
  • Both teams had opportunities early. The Gators stranded a pair in the first and another pair again in the second, and the Warriors left the bases loaded in the third.
  • SF State broke through in the fifth. DeLeon doubled to left and later scored on a Cardwell two-out single.
  • Lexi Holihan added an insurance run that would prove necessary with her sixth-inning home run to left field.
  • The Warriors denied the shutout and pulled to within a run in the bottom of the sixth. Karli Dalbianco singled and later came around to score on an RBI groundout by Sarah Warden.

  • Takeda Bajan (14-6) faced 24 batters and had a strikeout.
  • Victoria Alarcon (7-10) took the loss for the Warriors. She gave up a pair of runs on five hits. She walked six and struck out six.

How They Scored
  • The Gators set the tone with a five-run second inning. Rylee McDaniel reached on an error, Marissa Jordan laid down a sacrifice bunt, Lexi Holihan was hit by a pitch, and Kira Nilson delivered an RBI single. With two outs, DeLeon, Gonzales, and Guerrera all recorded RBI hits.
  • Stan State cut the lead to 5-3 with a three-run third but the Gators got a run back in the fourth. Ashley Rocha led off with a single, stole second, and scored on DeLeon's single to left center.
  • Allejandra Perea got a run back for the Warriors with her leadoff homer in the fifth.
  • SF State used two hits and took advantage of an error to score three runs in the sixth inning.
  • However, Stan State hung around and answered with two runs thanks to back-to-back fielding errors.

  • Elise Roy started and went two innings. She was charged with three runs on six hits.
  • Kharime Caratachea (4-3) earned the win with five innings of relief. She gave up three runs on five hits. She walked two and struck out one.
  • Sasha Martello (3-5) allowed nine runs, just one earned, in five and two thirds innings of work.
  • Shelby Frutoz pitched a scoreless inning and a third of relief.
