SAN FRANCISCO — The No. 22 San Francisco State softball team placed three student-athletes on the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-West Region Softball Team.
Kai DeLeon and
Rylee McDaniel both earned First Team Honors while
Mari Takeda Bajan earned Second Team Honors. Athletes on the First Team advance to the national ballot.
DeLeon wrapped up an amazing career with the Gators last weekend. She finished the season with a .396 batting average, fourth highest in a single season. She helped turn half of the team's 37 double plays, tied for first in the NCAA with Sonoma State. DeLeon also earned All-CCAA First Team Honors, NFCA West Region First Team Honors and was named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team after leading the Gator's to their first program Championship. DeLeon led the Gators in hits (78), runs (45), tied for first in doubles (16) and second on the team in stolen bases (22).
McDaniel was one of the Gators' hottest bats late in the season and was named the CCAA Tournament MVP. Her 12 home runs led the team and were the most in a single season. The second baseman's 14 home runs tied for eighth in career home runs. Daniels 37 RBIs and 39 runs ranked second on the team.
Takeda Bajan went 19-7 in the circle for the Gators. She pitched 17 complete games with 76 strikeouts and a 4.51 ERA. Her 26 career wins ranks 11th all-time.
